Dear Friends: Welcome to one of my favorite months: Gay Pride, Italian Independence Day, Americade motorcycle rally in Lake George, and my niece Katie, and nephews Alex and Nicky's birthdays...what fun! Plus, I'm bringing to market 4 listings: a newly mint renovated, convertible 3B with private roof deck at 130 Jane; 45 West 11th, a 1BR on a most pretty block; and 70 East 10th, a very large 1BR in full-service building; plus a large studio rental at Sheridan Square. David Del Tredici: Songs by the composer
Anna Tonna, Soprano
Generally recognized as the father of the Neo-Romantic movement in music, David Del Tredici has received numerous awards (including the Pulitzer Prize) and has been commissioned and performed by nearly every major American and European orchestral ensemble, including his magnificent and intense "Paul Revere's Ride," setting to music the poem by Longfellow, which was commissioned by the Atlanta Symphony.

"Renaissance Images of Women in War," with Christiane Andersson
Though men are generally the ones involved in warfare, during the Renaissance women also played a role on the edges of battlefields, as cooks, nurses, camp followers and sex workers. In the first decades of the sixteenth century, such women became subjects in art for the first time. This visual lecture will examine the meanings and mediums of these subjects in art.

Julius' Sip-In: An Evening with Dick Leitsch
On April 21, 1966, members of New York's Mattachine Society, a group of homosexual activists, entered Julius' on West 10th Street, identified themselves as gay, and asked to be served. They were denied, and this sparked an era of LGBT activism that culminated with the Stonewall Riots. Dick Leitsch, former president of the Mattachine Society and participant in the Sip-In, discusses this event and its significance.

Euripides' The Trojan Women: Greek Tragedy
The Trojan Women is the third tragedy of a Trojan War trilogy. Produced during the Peloponnesian War, it was first performed in 415BC. The Trojan women of the play are the same that appear in the final chapter of The Iliad, lamenting over the loss of Hector in this outdoor theater performance. Directed by Nicholas Martin-Smith.

Heritage of Pride: 2010 GLBT Pride March
Begun as an annual civil rights demonstration the year after the 1969 Stonewall Riots, the March expanded to recognize the fight against AIDS and a celebration of the GLBT community. Led by the NYC Sirens Motorcycle Club (look for me among the bikes!), the March goes from 36th Street and Fifth Avenue to the West Village. Festivities include the PRIDEFEST Street Fair on Hudson St between Abingdon Sq. and 14th St, from 11am to 7pm.
